The village hall is located in the centre of the village, opposite The Bell Inn, and is shared with Beercrocombe, a neighbouring village. It was built in 1987 and opened by Prince Charles. It has the capacity to hold 80 sitting and 120 standing. It has a large car park attached. It also has a childrens’ play area within the grounds.
The hall consists of one large room plus a smaller meeting room (the “Round Window” room), and has doors leading to the large grounds. There is a fully fitted kitchen with oven, fridge, microwave, crockery, glasses, kettles, urn and teapots.
Equipment includes tables and chairs, plus audio visual gear for film shows (supply own laptop). Mobile staging blocks are also available for events that require a stage, as well as stage lighting, so the hall is well placed to be used for musical events, plays, pantomimes etc.
The hall is regularly used by local groups and private bookings for activities such as badminton, short mat bowls and tai chi, plus cubs, scouts and beavers clubs. It is also used for community monthly quiz and games night events, and it hosts entertainment events including music and comedy jointly promoted with Somerset Take Art. It is well equipped to be used to host children’s parties, discos, christenings, wakes etc.
The hall is available for private hire for any type of suitable function by Curry Mallet and Beercrocombe residents as well as groups, individuals or commercial enterprises outside of the two villages who want to use it for a one-off event or a regular booking.
